Some people just don't want propane on the boat. Charcoal is what they grew up cooking on, it's what a burger is supposed to taste like, and there's no canister to remember at the ramp. Magma's charcoal Marine Kettle is the same grill body that has been bolted to Gulf Coast rails for decades — only fed with briquettes instead of gas.

This is the 17" party size, the larger of the two round Kettles, with roughly 240 square inches of cooking surface: enough for six or eight people in one round instead of feeding the boat in shifts. Body and lid are mirror-polished 18-9 marine-grade stainless, which is the entire reason these grills survive salt air that eats chrome-plated grills alive.

The lid is hinged rather than lift-off, so you're never setting a hot, ashy dome down on your deck or juggling it in a crosswind. A sliding air-intake damper and lid vents let you actually control the fire instead of guessing, and the deep kettle shape shields the coals from wind far better than any flat-top. Ash drops into the removable bottom pan for a quick dump at the dock.

Good to know: mounting hardware is sold separately — this ships as the kettle, hinged lid, charcoal grate and cooking grate. It uses the same Magma mounting system as the gas Kettles, so any Magma rail mount, rod-holder mount or deck socket fits. Universal fit: nothing boat-specific to match.
