Choose capacity by loaded boat weight with margin rather than matching it exactly. The winch drags the hull up the bunks instead of lifting it, but bunk friction loads it hard and a winch working at its limit wears fast. The 1200 lb covers most single-axle pontoon trailers; step to the 1600 lb for a steep ramp or a current.
