The transom straps are the ones actually holding your boat on the trailer at highway speed. The bow winch keeps it forward; the transom tie-downs keep the stern from walking side to side and bouncing on every expansion joint between here and the ramp. They are not the place to save money.

These are BoatBuckle's stainless ratchet tie-downs — 1 inch wide, 3.5 feet long, with a stainless ratchet mechanism rather than a plated steel one. That distinction is the whole point of buying these instead of a hardware-store strap. A plated ratchet that gets backed into salt water at every launch will seize inside of two seasons, usually while you are trying to release it in a parking lot in the dark.

The ratchet gives you real, controllable tension — enough to compress the hull firmly against the bunks without the guesswork of a cam buckle, and it will not creep loose over a long tow the way a lever-style buckle can.

Good to know: these ship as a pair, one for each side. Despite the name that circulates in some supplier catalogs, this is the ratchet model — BoatBuckle's non-ratcheting Kwik-Lok line uses different part numbers entirely. Universal fit: they attach to any trailer frame tie-down point and any transom eye. Send us a photo of your trailer and we will confirm the length works for your setup.
