Three-strand twisted nylon anchor rode with a thimble in the anchor end. Twisted nylon elongates under load and springs back, so surge from chop or a passing wake is absorbed by the line rather than jerking the anchor and the deck cleat.
Size by boat and depth: roughly seven feet of rode per foot of depth overnight, about five to one for a lunch hook. 3/8 in suits most pontoons in ten to fifteen feet; 1/2 in is for heavier boats or deeper water.
